Listed in the 149th Carnival of Personal Finance

Our article, Protecting Downside – Stop Loss Order, was listed in the 149th Carnival of Personal Finance. The carnival was called the “Chasing Dreams Edition” at The Happy Rock.

A couple of the Editor’s Top Picks are my top picks, as well.

FrugalBabe talks about all aspects of how she and her husband live frugaly in The Choices We Make. This is a great post where she lists in great detail the choices they make to live well within their means. Her post is a must read for anyone interested in personal finance.

FMF posted an excerpt from the book, Living Rich by Spending Smart: How to Get More of What You Really Want, in the post “The Spending Smart Philosophy: Controlling Spending is the Key to Building Wealth.” This is a lengthy excerpt about how to avoid debt and live within your means. It is worth a read.

There were several good posts on the effects of inflation versus the earnings of a savings account, and then offering alternatives: namely, investing. AJC had a post titled, “How much interest do you earn on one million dollars?,” and Baglady had one titled, “Is Inflation Eating Away Your Savings?” And yes, the negative return of inflation must always be accounted for.

I also really liked RC’s post, Two of the Most Important Work Habits for Increasing Your Income. I have always tried to be a person who pitches in and takes personal responsibility. RC talks in depth about the importance of doing the things no one else will do, and doing things without being asked at work.

There are a slew of great posts in the Money Management and Finance sections. My favorite is a 7-part post by The Financial Blogger titled, “How to Create an Alternative Source of Income,” TFB talks about his quest to create an additional $1000 per month as an alternative source of income. The link in the carnival is to Part 7, but I have pointed the link above to Part 1 in his archive for Alternative Income. If the link gets broken, just go to The Financial Blogger and click on the “Alternative Income” category. This series is well worth the read.

Please take some time to stop by the carnival and check it out.
