Listed in the 8th Edition of the Money Hacks Carnival

Our article, Save to Pay Taxes, was listed in the 8th Edition of the Money Hacks Carnival. This is a fun carnival where grocery shopping “hacks” from Be Thrifty Like Us have been sprinkled through the topics.

Change Your Tree has a great series in the carnival titled, 6 Concepts You Must Teach Your Child Before Age 18 (Part 1 of 6): Personal Finance. There are links to 4 of the other 5 concepts from this first one. (The final concept will be released on April 18.) The concepts so far are

  1. Personal Finance
  2. Real Life Economics
  3. Personal Accountability
  4. Consciousness, Self-Worth, and Individuality
  5. How to Teach Yourself

These are really well done and very detailed. Just finding this post made this edition of the Money Hacks Carnival worthwhile to me!

One of the Editor’s Picks that I liked very much was The Frugal Literate’s Guide to Affordable Reading. I love to read. Penelope Pince put together a great post that talks about the virtues of reading, and then gives a list of affordable reading resources.

Silicon Valley Blogger has a good post called, 5 Tips On Evaluating Your Investment Portfolio Performance. Several of her tips come down to comparing apples to apples. You need to make sure that you compare the performance of your investments to comparable indexes and peer stocks. You also want to make sure your portfolio balance fits your lifestyle.

The Money Hacks Carnival is a fun carnival where lots of the articles are kind of short. In the context of this carnival, a “hack” is a tool or technique used to gain better performance, savings, frugality, etc., in the world of personal finance. Please take some time to check it out.
