Listed in Carnival of Money Stories #53

Woo hoo! We made editor’s choice in the Carnival of Money Stores #53 – April Fool’s Edition at Chief Family Officer with our article, Budget Trade-offs. This is the first time making editor’s choice. Wow! Cool! W00t!

Okay, I’m calm now. And thank you so much!

There is an interesting post in the Carnival by Madison from My Dollar Plan on Investment Club Portfolio and Returns. The interesting thing is that they lagged the Vanguard total market index for 4 years prior to beating it in 2007. That is very good for 2007, but it shows the value of index investing for the long term. Madison said that they used the club for a learning experience and they only had a very small percentage of their money actually involved. Sounds like fun.

Ana at DebtFREE-Revolution asked What Would Make You Feel Rich? She starts with talking about a fancy ink pen, but progresses to having her own house with a circular driveway. Personally, I would feel rich if I could keep my current lifestyle without having to go to work every day.

Paidtwice talks about how she started saving for retirement in her ’20s in Retirement Advice I Didn’t Want To Ignore. She points out how people who have stuck with saving for retirement early on have a much easier time than those who start later. Unfortunately, she fell off the savings “wagon” with the bust of 2000, but is now back on with regrets for not keeping it going. At least she now has the knowledge of how compounding works and seems to be headed in the right direction.

Shanti at Antishay Ventenne has a very good post titled, WWSD #3: How Can I Work at Home Successfully?, that details the things she does to keep focussed working at home. Personnaly, I think my productivity would suffer due distractions.

Of course, there are lots of other great posts in the Carnival. You should check it out.

Thank you for the link! It is a lot about self-control, but you’ll find that distractions aren’t so much of a bad thing once your time is entirely your own :)

  2. Chief Family Officer:

Thanks for linking back to the Carnival! Have a great weekend!

  3. My Dollar Plan:

Thanks for mentioning my article. Congrats on the Editors’ Pick!
