Listings for Week of July 27
Our article, Lending and Fiat Money, was listed in the Carnival of Personal Finance #163 – “Quotable Quotes”. Some of the posts I liked:
- Dealin’ with the devil at Funny About Money. I have never carried a balance on a credit card, and never expect to. I do use a rewards card for many purchases. I am getting a small discount on my purchases when I use the card. I always remember that they can cause trouble and using them requires restraint.
- Why A Smile Is Your Most Valuable Asset at Broke-Ass Grad Student. I completely agree with this. Smiles are infectious and can help you interact with other people. People in sales know they need to be friendly and approachable. Smiles and good manners also often help you to get better deals when haggling.
- Saving money in the Library at Money Reasons. Points out all the great things we can borrow at the library.
Our article, Neighborly Gift, was listed in Festival of Frugality #136 – Summer School Edition. I always find good stuff at the Festival. I liked
- Thinking About Spending & Purchasing at Art of the Coupon. Some very good rules for purchasing non-necessities that can save a lot of money.
- Back-to-school peer pressure – not the year to fight that battle at Monroe on a Budget. Says that it is OK to let kids have some name-brand back-to-school purchases as long as they are in moderation. Many tips like, “Maybe the students can pick out one new pair of name brand jeans from the department store – and three others from the thrift shop.”
- 15 Everyday Habits that Save Money at Saving Advice. Taking care of yourself is good frugal advice.
Our article, Historic Mortgage Rates, was listed in the Money Hacks Carnival #23 – It’s Gotta Be The Shoes! The posts in this carnival are often short but very interesting.
- Career Skills: Tips and Strategies for AFTER Your Job Interview at Trees Full of Money. Excellent advice for post interview behavior and followup.
- 13 Ways to Be Green and Save your Green ($) at the Q Family Adventure. Lots of good tips here.
- 10 Extremely Frugal Moves at Frugal Fu. This may be my favorite post. Our family practices all the basic frugal tips, and then some. These tips are in the “and then some” realm. Great stuff.
