Carnival Listings for Week of June 22nd
Three of our posts were again accepted into three different carnivals and festivals.
A guest post by Tisha Kulak, Credit Cards and Your Divorce, was accepted by the Carnival of Personal Finance #158 : Vampire Slaying Edition. Some of my favorite posts include
- Personal Finance: As Taught By Automotive Magazines at Not the Jet Set. This post related cars and driving to personal finance wisdom. Some of the analogies were spot on!
- What Being A Surgeon Has Taught Me About Personal Finance at Value for Your Life. This post used surgical analogies relating to personal finance. It was also spot on!
- Murphy’s Law Of The Workplace at Free from Broke. I always enjoy reading other people’s Murphy’s Laws.
Our post, Bicycle Riding on Father’s Day, was accepted by the Festival of Frugality #131 – Summer Savings Edition. Some really good ideas for stretching a dollar were
- The Frugal Olympics – Going for the Gold at Greener Pastures: Personal Finance. There are some good savings tips here, and making a game of them often helps to squeeze that last bit out.
- Send Your Kid to Summer Camp Without Blowing the Budget at Prime Time Money. Some good summer camp tips that we have taken advantage of this year as well as in years past.
- Could high gas prices actually be a good thing? at Money and Fitness Blog. There is nothing like a big hit to the wallet to actually change people’s behavior.
Another of our posts, Perot Charts, was accepted by Money Hacks Carnival #18 – The History Of Money! I have to apologize to Curtis at Penny Jobs. It turns out that he had a Perot Charts post that preceded mine. I did not know he had written his post until after I had written and published mine. At least I focused on a different part of Ross Perot’s web site.
Some of the money hacks I liked were
- The Importance of Learning to Let Go at The Personal Financier. I definitely have a problem letting go of things that have outlived their usefulness.
- Where There’s a Will… at the DebtFree Playbook Blog. Everyone needs an up-to-date will. What is your excuse?
- Market Plummeting! Recession! Plague! at Can I Get Rich on a Salary. This is another good summary of reasons from the commercial finance news sites and personal finance blogs to “Stay the course.”
There are many more interesting posts in these carnivals, but at the very least, please check out a few of my faves.
