Listed in the Festival of Frugality #122

Our article, Grandpa and the Great Depression, was listed in the Festival of Frugality #122. Aaron Stroud at On Financial Success formatted the festival as a running story with links to the various blogs woven within the story. The original presentation, alone, makes this Festival worth a visit. Aaron gave our article an “everyone must read” label. Very cool.

Frugal bloggers have many great ideas and articles that are just plain cool.

Mr. Cheap talks about how great we have it today in A “Decent” Lifestyle. Even though he currently lives on $1200-1400 / month, comparing our lives to some of the more impoverished, he says, “I could stop eating out, get rid of my home computer, live with a few roommates or in a rooming house and still be living what I’d consider a very decent life.”

Paid Twice has a post to help avoid the affliction of so many today in When Buying In Bulk Just Means You Eat More ~ Make Allotments. Buying in bulk is usually the cheapest, but we have to keep our consumption under control, as well.

Indebted 2 You has a great and humorous post with a surprise ending in Housing Woes Force An Impulse Buy. You gotta read it. I don’t want to wreck the surprise, but I gotta say that my kid took mine.

Funny About Money lists Five Budget Busters. I empathize with her #4 buster that Costco can definitely be a budget buster if you do not have a shopping list and stick to it. It can be an impulse buyer’s dream (or perhaps nightmare is more apt). But it also is a great place to save money.

Finally, the Silicon Valley Blogger at Digerati Life gives the secret to success with “Spend Less Than You Earn Or Earn More Than You Spend?,” which talks about striking a balance between being frugal and earning more. Both of which are necessary.

There are lots of other good posts in the Festival, so please check it out.
